To Anon.

“…Sounds wonderful. When your spouse gets fat, irritable with menopause, doesn't want sex much anymore and is generally full of negative stuff; all of the idealism of what is supposed to be present in your heart is not there for her/him. The music in your words becomes theory and a heady "wouldn’t it be wonderful if..."

Dear Anon.,
Thanks for sharing your comment. Real love, unconditional love, which I don’t possess, but that I have been the recipient of, is the most powerful force in creation. The title of Kitty Davy’s book, Love Alone Prevails, says it all.
But, human love, conditional love, is a very fragile thing.
Upasni Maharaj said that the highest purpose of marriage is to remind one’s spouse that God alone is the purpose and goal of existence and to help him/her to achieve this divine goal.
But this Kali Yuga is a difficult time. Families are all too often seen fighting among themselves, hurting each other, making their individual lives and their lives together miserable, living hells.
Perhaps this, in its own way, begins to turn people towards God? Meher Baba in one of his Ghazals (poems) once said, “The world; it never was, it never is, and it never will be anyone’s Beloved.”
I interpret this to mean that the world and all its promises will, in the end, always disappoint us. Perhaps, after enough disappointments, we will learn to seek real happiness from a different source?

Meher Baba said:
“The world is a prison in which the Soul experiences being
behind the bars of its gross-subtle-mental body -- the Soul,
eternally free, lone Sovereign and supreme Lord! Illusion's
hold is so strong that the Soul experiences itself as serf rather
than Soul.

Illusion stages the Lord's imprisonment so perfectly and
establishes His serfdom so convincingly that even at the
moment when the Perfect Master bestows His Grace on the
Soul it experiences itself as breaking out through the bars of
a prison which never existed.

The Soul's apparent imprisonment becomes so suffocatingly
unbearable that it -- by the Master's Grace -- literally tears
itself free; and the feeling of exultation is as powerful as was
its feeling of suffocation. The experience of both imprisonment
and release is of Illusion; but the experience of the final
Freedom is of Reality. The emancipated Soul then experiences
continuously and eternally its own infinite freedom.

The world exists only as long as the Soul experiences bondage;
when the Soul realizes itself as Reality the world vanishes -- for
it never was and the Soul experiences itself as being Infinite
and Eternal.”

Come, come, come,
Whoever you are,
Wanderer, worshipper, lover of leaving—
It does not matter,
Ours is not a Caravan of Despair.
Though you might have broken your vow a thousand times,
Come, come yet again, come.

Too many look to the things of this world to bring them real happiness and love - material wealth, alcohol, drugs, gang activity, the list goes on and on. One of my prayers includes the request for blessings for those who "cannot or will not pray for themselves." People seeking from the source itself can be a channel of the happiness and love even to those looking for their happiness in this world.
